Availability Update Going Forward to 2021

Image
Hello! I hope you're all well and staying safe? This is an update on my availability going forward and to say that as things stand right now (and we all know things can change pretty quickly right?) I am virtually fully booked up until next Autumn 2021. So if you are planning your wedding for September 2021 onward, do get in touch if you're interested in exploring the bespoke wedding dress route or you have dress or outfit ideas of your own you'd like help realising. If you are already booked in for a consultation with me or we've already chatted online or in person and your wedding is earlier than Sept '21, don't panic - you are already allocated space. This is for new enquiries from now onwards. The above image of bespoke bride Rebecca from 2017 is full of symbolism for us all during these times: dark skies but moving forward with purpose! (Image M.Drew.) Keep on keeping on peeps and hope to hear from you soon.

Commissioning a Bespoke Wedding Dress - The Benefits

Image
Something I often notice when chatting with some brides-to-be is that sometimes there are a few misconceptions about what it means to have a bespoke wedding dress designed and made, so I thought it would be useful to create a little mini series of posts about the Bespoke side of my business. I'll be covering the benefits, fears and FAQs that often occur, and we'll be looking in on a fitting to give an idea of what happens and the progress made. This post will discuss the benefits of my bespoke service. I often ask my bespoke brides what they were looking for in the service, and why they decided to go for a bespoke design with me, and they often tell me without being asked! So the following are some of the general benefits of a Bespoke bridal design service, combined with comments from my own Bespoke brides from the past few years: 1. "I want a unique wedding dress - I don't want to look like everyone else." You know that feeling - you're engaged, you...

Glamorous Snowy Winter Wedding

Image
Happy New Year! What better way to start the New Year than with a romantic winter wedding? Four days before Christmas, one of my brides -  Clarity CB1 CEO & Executive Producer Saleha Williams (based here in Cambridge), eloped with her fiancé and business partner Russ Gostelow to marry in the stunning snowy Canadian Rockies, Banff, Alberta, and I'm so excited to show you the images from their gorgeous, glamorous wedding day! Photography by Orange Girl . Saleha wanted a Dr Zhivago inspired look for her day. The wedding even took place in Lake Louise, Canada where part of the famous film was shot. Being an outside wedding (literally amidst the falling snow), Saleha came to me to design and create a bespoke red silk wedding dress, which would look stunning against the beautiful white snow. For the  snowy outside day ceremony, Saleha wanted a claret red silk duchess satin, full skirted ball gown style dress which would later transfer into a fishtai...

Up-to-the-minute gorgeous simple crepe winter wedding dress...

Image
I'm so excited to show you these fantastic images from Lara and Dean's winter wedding last Christmas time! Lara chose a bespoke option and wore a simple 100% silk ivory heavy crepe wedding gown, perfectly accessorised with her family veil. While I was making this dress for Lara, she originally was going to have lace trim on the dress, but when it came to the moment, we decided that the purity of the crepe alone was enough. This is definitely a case of less is more, and she looks amazing! Congratulations to you both! X All these beautiful images are by photographer Esther Wild .

2017 Wedding dress bookings, timescales & info

Image
It's already the last day of February! Where has that time gone? I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year! I thought I'd start this year's (delayed) blog post with some talk about 'time'. It fits in with several practical notes I want to discuss with you about my service. I hope you find this helpful if you're thinking of getting in touch or commissioning a custom made dress. It's a bit stream of conciousness, but hey, that's how things are around here! I am incredibly busy in the studio making dresses for 2017 weddings, and am already almost booked up for this year! This is great on many levels and yet not so great having to turn away potential customers. So I'm sorry if I couldn't book you in this year, I hate turning away brides, but I have to be realistic about what can be done and loyal to the brides already booked. This is a constant battle that I have. I'm sure many of you are managing 'time'. There's jus...
