Gemma wedding dress is a beautifully light gown, ideal for a summer wedding (it was a very hot day when we photographed it) or a beach wedding, or if you're a comfort loving kind of gal. The skirt is made of a fine soft satin overlaid with soft ivory tulle attached to a softly shaped fine lace bodice with beaded spaghetti straps. Summer Photo Shoot: Kallista Dress by Rachel Lamb Design

Image
Time has flown this year, and back in July the fantastic wedding photographer Sarah Brookes took some photos of some of my Collection dresses. The day was sweltering hot but we managed to find some shade somewhere! This first dress I'm showing you is modelled by Steph Swan and is called Kallista. It's a statement of a dress with a full ballgown shaped skirt with a strapless feathered bodice. The feathers are optional of course which completely changes the look from something quite humourous to a more traditional feel. The dress is made in a fabric called Zibeline and is available to view and order in my studio right now. This is a dress that your friends won't forget! Steph's makeup is by Flashkate MUA , her hair is by Becci Jones Hairdressing and her flowers are by the wonderful Florae Foray .

White ruffles wedding dress testimonial

Image
Lovely testimonial from a bride: 'The quality of Rachel's work is excellent and I would especially note how fussy she was about the dress fitting perfectly - exactly what you need from a dressmaker. I was very happy with the end result and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an expert in bridal couture.'

Bohemian Dreams Bo Show Wedding Festival

Image
Well, we braved the arctic temperatures of the morning and happily the sun shone in the afternoon at the Bohemian Dreams Bo Show Wedding Festival  last Sunday! It turned out to be a great day of chatting with brides-to-be about their forthcoming wedding ideas, getting to know other wedding suppliers, and revisiting old friends. All of us had something in common, which is that we offer something a bit different, and that felt very good I must say! I was helped on the day by Lindsay and Michelle, and my ever faithful 'Logistics Manager' (Dan, my husband!) Thanks all for your help guys. Xxx Thanks too to the organisers whose idea it was to host this new style wedding festival. :-) L-R: Elsa wedding dress, Alexia wedding dress, (Lindsay setting up) & Beatrix wedding dress by Rachel Lamb Back view of Sylvie wedding dress by Rachel Lamb   Elsa wedding dress by Rachel Lamb Florence wedding dress back view by Rachel Lamb Tooley wedding dres...

Beautifully simple & elegant wedding dress design

Image
Back in the early Autumn last year I had the pleasure of working with Matilda on her beautifully simple and elegant wedding dress. Matilda was inspired by her mother's wedding dress which she brought along to our first appointment together. The dress was very simple with seaming being the main detail. After a discussion, we decided to make a modern version of her mother's dress for Matilda. It's a beautiful A-line shaped, boned dress, with buttons all the way down the back to the bottom of the train. The main body  of the dress is made from ivory silk Dupion and the neckline and sleeves are a softer ivory silk crepe Georgette. Doesn't she look perfect?

Elsa: Simple & feminine Guipure lace wedding dress

Image
Love, love, love this dress! This is another of my new Collection dresses called Elsa. It's a very simple and easy to wear dress, brilliant if you don't want to feel like your dress is wearing you, or for a simple country wedding or small venue perhaps? Elsa is made from several layers of silk Georgette in the skirt and has a boned silk bodice overlaid with hand-cut Guipure lace. We love this lace because it has a lovely irregular edge. The pictures for all this shoot were taken by Andrew from Lightworks Photography . Before I forget, it's the Secret Garden Wedding Marquee Open Day at Burwash Manor tomorrow. It's a lovely venue so do pop along and have a look if you don't have a venue yet. Andrew from Lightworks will be there too so go and say hello to him too!

A Rose Print Wedding Dress

Image
Good afternoon, how are you? I am very busy these days, which is wonderful! Thank you to all my brides for your bookings this year! xx Here is another of my new (ish) Collection wedding dresses. I say new-ish because I'm not sure I've had this one photographed before and it hasn't had much exposure, so it still feels new to me. It's named Rosa, for obvious reasons. I'm lucky because I get quite a lot of variety in the dresses I'm asked to make, especially a variety of colours. However, ivory remains the most popular colour within the dresses I design. Anyway, I decided to combine the two and design a dress with a colourful print combined with a dark ivory silk. The printed bust section is a cotton print. My thinking behind it is that you could combine any printed fabric with a more traditional bridal colour, as in this dress, to come up with something that is unique to you. The other option would be to replace the printed section with a tonal l...

Eleanor: Simple & Gorgeous A-line Wedding Dress

Image
Eleanor Eleanor Eleanor Eleanor Here's another of my new designs from my Collection. I love this dress, it's called Eleanor and is simple and classic with just a little bit of lace on the bust section. The waist section is ruched silk Taffeta and the skirt is hitched and bunched-up (technical terms there) silk Organza over more silk. As with almost all of my dresses, the design can be changed to suit you. For example, it could be made without the cap sleeves, with longer sleeves or as a strapless dress. Or perhaps in a different colour? You could also choose not to bunch up the Organza overlay and to have it smooth instead. The best thing is to just chat with me about what you are thinking of, and we can go from there. However, I do love it as it is!
