Short, swirly, quirky wedding dress

 
Remember these? (The top swirly thing.) I recall it was commented that they looked like Iced Gems. They are a sewing 'doodle' that I worked on a while back.

After wanting to use them for ages, but not feeling that anything was quite right, I've finally got around to using them on a new dress design which is currently still a work-in-progress, but here's a small preview:




It's going to be short, light, simple and quirky. Something perhaps to inspire those who would like to wear something a bit different and fun. It's certainly not a traditional gown, but that's the whole point.

I'll show some more pictures of the whole thing soon, when it's finished. I hope that you like it.

OK, I was recently reading one of my favourite blogs The Coffee Lady and she used a great excuse for not posting regularly and referred to her last post of a few weeks back as 'just then'. Her excuse was that time travels faster as you age, to which I thought, how true is that? Gaia Dress

I've added a new dress to my window display. Take a look over there to the right...see it? This dress has been in my collection in various forms for a few years now. It's SO popular! I think what clinches it is it's so easy to wear, the little cap sleeves are very cute and feminine and the lace is lightweight and not too intense . I call it a 'skipping through the fields with daisies' dress! It can be made in various ways - as is, strapless, sleeveless or change the neckline shape if you like. I think this adaptability is what has also kept it such a popular design. It's wonderfully understated and comfortable, and has no boning, although if you fancy a bit of support, it can be adapted to include a boning layer.

Back to work

Easing back into regular work again. Just finishing two wedding dresses for separate weddings on the same day later on this month. I'll post some pictures as they become available and after the events. Among other wedding dresses, today I started work on two more gowns for later summer weddings this year, so have those to show you as they progress. I'm also very aware that there are many weddings from the latter end of last year that I've not got around to posting about yet. Everything in good time!
